Shells are part of traditional Oferan starship design. They refer to the circular sections of a ship.
Each section has a circular outer section and hollow centre, apart from a central corridor which runs through the length of the ship, with the overdrive engines being mounted off the rear. What makes them versatile is that the overdrive engines can easily be removed and multiple shells string together to make a marger vessel.
