The Alexander-MkIII is an updated version of the Alexander Mk-II Class which served the Alliance for close to two centuries. The ships are smaller than the previous class, even smaller than the Alexander-MkI at only eight decks, but are far more versatile. They have a tiny crew compliment and this allows them tremendous versatility.
They are docked as part of the Poseidon Class. Their versatility and small size allows them to serve as seperate vessels for months, even years, on end giving the mother ship even greater versatility and scope in what missions it can perform.
The Alexander-MkIII carry:
One wing of Sirius-Class Starfighters (12 craft)
